booksigning in my honor afterwards.
“A Celebration of Local Authors,” Solano County Library Foundation’s new event to connect local authors with local readers and aspiring authors, will debut on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Vallejo’s John F. Kennedy Library, 505 Santa Clara Street, in the Joseph Room from 1 – 4 p.m.
Fifteen local authors, representing genres as varied as poetry, cookbooks, memoirs, adventure novels, and family history sagas, will share their experiences and inspirations in panel discussions. Vallejo author David Corbett (Blood of Paradise, Done for a Dime, and The Devil’s Redhead) will act as moderator. Admission fee for the event is $10 ($5 for Library Foundation members) and includes light refreshments. Tickets will be available at the door.
Attendees who purchase a membership in the Solano County Library Foundation that afternoon will receive a $5 discount on their membership and a complimentary copy of My Checkered Life, local author Fern Henry’s book about early Vacaville resident Luzena Stanley Wilson
In addition to participating in the panel discussions, each author will be available for individual discussions while selling his or her books. Authors (and their genres) featured in this year’s program include: Joy Shannnon Balmer (Hand Me Downs, Family life); Therese Bayol, Shadow Women, and Panting After Chopin, Romance); Janie P. Bess, Visions, Memoir); Suzanne Bruce and Janet Manalo (Voices Beyond the Canvas, Poetry and art); George Marshall (Fire Walk: The Journey Home, Adventure); Lula Mathis (Never Alone, Children’s picture book); Sandra Lee Stillwell (I am a Dress Made of Butterflies, Poetry); Bev Veenbaas (The Brushy Crick Kids, Family life); Francie Vicondoa (Spanish Doors, Dishes & Dreams, Cookbook); MarcBryan D. Vinzon (The Armor of Odin, Fantasy fiction); Lt. Col. James Warren (Tuskegee Airmen Mutiny at Freeman Field, non-fiction).
